Happy Holidays from Jessica, Michael, John, and Cornell. (mommy daddy baby doggy)

John Edward Korcok is now 6 months old and has been growing fast and lean. At 4 months old, he began to babble, much like his old man’s students at 8am after a bending party. Here he is lighting up the room.

For Halloween, the lad dressed up as Captain America, of course. (We won’t tell you who Iron Man, Spiderman, and Black Widow were … but we fight “the foes no single superhero can withstand”). Here is the leader of The Avengers getting ready for battle:

But “superhero” doesn’t come easy. There are long hours of training in the Mansion’s gym. Here is the lad during a workout in the P90 Herotron:

And of course, to DO good, one must LOOK good. And that requires adequate rest:

John has been growing fast. He now weighs 18 lbs, which is the 60th percentile for male 6-month olds and is 28.75 inches long, which is the 99th percentile for male 6-month olds.

We don’t want to give the wrong impression. John isn’t just working on the strong body part. Here is dad teaching the boy some chemistry.

“See, the rapid oxidation of methane in the process of combustion releases light at 700 nanometer wavelengths, heat at 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit, water vapor and carbon dioxide. This is the model of methane combustion used by chemists like mommy:

CH4[g] + 2 O2[g] -> CO2[g] + 2 H2O[l] + 891 kJ

Can you say “kilojoules” for daddy? That’s FIRE! It’s HOT! And RED! And BOOOO to CO2, BOOOO!”

Mommy, the only one in the house with a real science degree, teaches the love.

And we end this page with… sleepy sleep for the boys of the family:

John Edward Korcok at 2 months old smiles all the time. As summer wanes, the air is sweet with honeysuckle and soft music. Mom and dad posed for a picture in the dining room with a suddenly serious lad.

John hasn’t slowed his growing any over the last 4 weeks. He now weighs 14 lbs 3 oz, which is the 94th percentile for male 8-week olds and is 24.8 inches long, which is the 97th percentile for male 2-month olds. If he continues this pace, John will weigh 300 pounds and be 15 feet tall on his 10th birthday. Everyone assures us that the pace of growth will taper off soon. We will see…

John Edward has begun to smile, not only in response to his parents, but spontaneously. It’s a blast to watch him break out with one of his grins.

And it pretty much doesn’t matter where he is, the kid seems to feed off the delight he gives mom and dad.

But of course “happy” isn’t the only mood John Edward displays. At times a panoply of emotions plays across his face. In this video, John listens to Pachelbel’s Canon.

But John’s life hasn’t always been beautiful music and hand-knitted blankets. Here Little Brown Riding Hood finds himself alone with the Big Bad Wolf.

John Edward Korcok became 1 month old and let his parents know that he was keeping his options open. While mom and dad hope that Spartacus chooses an academic path, he showed off some muscle by taking a classic Quarterback pose. Sigh…

The boy makes a decent case. He grows apace and at 1 month he weighs in at 11 lbs 8 oz, which is the 92nd percentile for male 4-week olds and is 23.4 inches long, which is the 96th percentile for male 1 month olds. Growing faster and getting a bit leaner: mom and dad will speak to son about basketball, a fine sport with fewer concussions.

We have taken to calling him Squirmicus because of how active he is. It does seem to be paying off in gross motor function, though. Here the boy shows off his ability to roll over a month or 2 ahead of schedule. (Yes, he does this amazing feat even though he has the hiccups.)

And head lifts to 45 degrees and up? He got those down a couple weeks ago. You and I, we take lifting our heads up at an angle for granted, but remember, our noggins aren’t GINORMOUS!

John Edward is so committed to physicality that we’ve caught him checking how long until his next workout. Like this one time he had already gotten into his sweats and kept checking his baby watch.

Both parents have extensive experience debating, so we are confident that he will come to see it our way eventually. But it may be a bit of a struggle.
